Product Description
Time Flies is one of my most cherished embroidered pieces - a large artwork stitched slowly and lovingly over many hours. At its centre sits a gently gilded hourglass, its sand caught in a moment of stillness. Around it, lilacs and forget-me-nots climb and curl, adding soft colour and life to the frame. Two butterflies - Junonia orithya and Battus philenor - rest lightly on the hourglass, their wings stitched with layers of fine detail and quiet luminosity.
This piece began as a meditation on the way time moves through us: how quickly moments pass, how tenderly they can be held, how beauty often appears in the spaces between. The flowers and butterflies arenāt just decoration - theyāre reminders that time, even as it slips away, leaves traces of life and colour behind.
The embroidery is finished in a wooden DMC oval hoop that I hand-stained to complement the palette and give the piece a sense of warmth and depth. Every element was stitched with care, patience, and a kind of reverence for the theme, making this one of my favourite creations to date.
This is the only version of Time Flies that exists - an original artwork, rich in texture and meaning, meant to be treasured and displayed as a quiet reflection on the passing of time.
Additional Details
Time Flies is framed in a beechwood embroidery hoop that measures 24.5cm (~9.5")tall and 18.5cm (~7") wide. With the hanging hardware the total height is around 26cm (~10"). It is intended to be kept in the hoop and hung up for display, preferably out of direct intense sunlight. Materials used include cotton fabric and metallic and regular stranded cotton threads.
Lovingly created in a pet-friendly home. Great care has been taken to keep the piece clean and free from stray fibres, but may not be suitable for those with severe or life-threatening sensitivities.
