Garden of Endings
“Garden of Endings” is a one-of-a-kind, highly detailed embroidery inspired by the Death tarot card - not as a symbol of despair, but of transformation. A raven, scythe, empty hourglass, skull, and death’s-head moth rest among various poisonous blooms and fungi, each element echoing the theme of endings that make way for beginnings. Stitched over nearly 150 hours, this piece brings life and death into quiet conversation, creating something haunting, intricate, and unexpectedly hopeful.

This is the best needle minder I’ve ever gotten. It’s super well made and keeps the needle nicely centered! It’s definitely my new favorite in my collection!
Product Description
Garden of Endings is my most detailed embroidery to date—a piece that grew slowly over the course of several months and roughly 150 hours, stitch by deliberate stitch. It’s inspired by the Death tarot card, not in its grim interpretations, but in its truest meaning: transformation, release, and the quiet truth that from endings, new beginnings take root.
The piece gathers together a collection of symbols that sit between life and death. A raven keeps watch with a scythe across the background, and an empty hourglass rests nearby. A skull lies half-claimed by overgrowth. A death’s-head hawkmoth hovers, almost blending in with it's camouflage wings. Around them, all poisonous flowers and fungi - deadly nightshade, hemlock, morning glory, lily of the valley, fly agaric, pholiotina rugosa - unfurl with a beauty that’s both captivating and dangerous.
Although every element carries a touch of mortality, the embroidery itself is full of life: twisting stems, layered petals, tiny stitches of texture and colour. The whole piece became a meditation on the way endings feed beginnings, the way decay nourishes growth, the way something can be both beautiful and fatal at the same time.
This is a one-off original artwork, stitched entirely by hand. I wont be making any duplicates of it - just this single piece, carrying all the time, care, and quiet symbolism that went into its making.
Additional Details
Garden of Endings is framed in a faux wood embroidery hoop that measures 25cm (~10") tall and 18cm (7") wide. With the hanging hardware the total height is around 28.5cm (11"), though this can be unscrewed if not desired. It is intended to be kept in the hoop and hung up for display, preferably out of direct intense sunlight. Materials used include cotton fabric and metallic and regular stranded cotton threads.
Lovingly created in a pet-friendly home. Great care has been taken to keep the piece clean and free from stray fibres, but may not be suitable for those with severe or life-threatening sensitivities.
